My book, Chat Republic is the outcome of eight years of covering the growth of digital media, and 18 years of work on the intersection of technology and society.
Social media has been co-opted by activists in the middle east, and embedded into customer service, diplomacy, education, politics, space exploration and nearly activity we might be involved in –even religion!
How should we operate within this giant speech bubble? The book makes a case for why we need more listening spaces in our Republic of Chatter, and how we could make our hybrid conversations more authentic.

“Chat Republic is a welcome change from the American-centric view of social media”
Linda VandeVrede, Author, Press Releases are not a Strategy
“Packed with anecdotes and stories about social media, this book can serve as a very useful introduction for those still sitting on the fence. Angelo Fernando correctly states that ‘to refuse to chat is an invitation to others to take control.’ Here he offers an accessible and engaging text to help more people participate in social media and have their voice heard.”
―Emanuel Rosen, Author, The Anatomy of Buzz Revisited
“Chat Republic has been an enjoyable read for Saatchi employees in the Asia Pacific and China. Some of them have taken its context and have debated it with people and clients alike. Read it and be enlightened. And reassured. And inspired.
―Johann Xavier, Chief Financial Officer, Saatchi & Saatchi Asia-Pacific & Greater China
